The Children’s Heart Center Nevada has an array of specialists in fetal cardiology, adults with congenital heart disease, electrophysiology, interventional cardiology, and cardiac surgery. Our specialists come from Harvard, Stanford, UCLA, UCSF, and USC.

Based on all the care we provide, we are among the top 5 centers in the U.S. (Table 1). We have created a place where the results for open-heart surgery are better than the national average (Table 2). Our success for all heart surgeries, whether open heart or not, is 99%.

All of this makes Nevada one of the best places in the United States for children to undergo heart surgery. In fact, our patients travel from other states for care in Nevada.

Heart Surgery

Dr. Michael Ciccolo leads our surgical team. He trained at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and has been part of the community since 2000. Dr. Ciccolo is the only board certified congenital heart surgeon in Nevada and one of the few experts in the country with this certification. He has developed innovative techniques which have been published in several medical and surgical journals.

All heart surgeries and other cardiac procedures, including catheterizations and electrophysiology studies, are performed at Sunrise Children‘s Hospital, the largest children’s hospital in Nevada.

Patient Referrals

We see all patients referred by physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, or any other provider. We also accept self referrals. We are on all insurance plans and accept Medicaid and Medicare. We also see patients without insurance and provide no-cost assistance to help families obtain insurance or Medicaid if eligible.
